Each tutor establishes a professional relationship as a tutor for APA. Tutors are selected based on their educational background, experience with children and their passion for teaching. They are also required to have a recent criminal record check with a vulnerable sector screening.

Our tutors share in our philosophy of teaching to the individual and each tutor we hire is gifted in the art of individualizing instruction. Moreover, each shares our enthusiasm for inspiring a passion for learning and empowering students to discover their strengths and achieve results.

Mary Printz M.Ed

Advisor and Principal

Mary is an experienced, transformational educator and consultant with over three decades of experience.  She combines her expertise with a deep understanding of the learning process to provide help and direction to create meaningful and impactful educational experiences.  Dedicated to helping children cultivate their true potential, academically, emotionally, and mentally for lifelong success in a loving and kind atmosphere, students thrive under her direction. 

 

With a passion for students to flourish in reading, writing, and math, she and her team first began offering summer camps. Tutoring requests immediately came flooding in and have been increasingly popular ever since.

 

Since 2015, APA has impacted preschool to adult students by providing remediation, maintenance, and enrichment. Mary has spoken in Canada, the United States, and India sharing her passion to help learners achieve their true potential.

Jeff Printz, B.Sc., P.Eng

Chief Administrative Officer

Jeff has been a Project Manager and Professional Engineer for 25 years.  

 

He is a leader in mathematical programming and has a vision of mathematics where every student and teacher thrives and becomes a mathematical thinker. He can call out the mindsets that cripple a student's aptitude for math and how to change them. More than just a replacement set of positive messages, Jeff provides practical, research-tested strategies for teaching, assessment, practice, and homework- all to help a student learn and realize their full potential in mathematics.

As the Chief Administrative Officer he oversees the administrative duties and planning of individual programs. He creates targeted individual lessons, unique to each student, incorporating specific techniques, strategies, and activities to help students experience the joy of learning and understanding math.  â€‹

Elizebeth 

~ Tutor - Adult Learning

Elizebeth started her career as a teacher in northern Alberta where she taught for 18 years, an experience that taught her a great deal about teaching, especially ESL students. This lead to taking on the role of Principal.   Over the years Elizebeth has taught Home Economics, English, Math, and Social Studies.  She has a love of Alberta history and writing and has written novel studies and fiction. She developed a love of writing in while attending Medicine Hat College. Elizebeth finished her Bachelor of Education at the University of Lethbridge with a major in Social Studies and a minor in English, then  went to the University of Calgary where she earned a BA in History. She also completed her Masters of Education at the University of Calgary.

Ruth 

~ Tutor - Adult Learning

Ruth graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan. She enjoyed classroom teaching for 35 years and only gave it up with her move to Medicine Hat in June of 2018. Though she has taught many subjects at many grade levels, her passions are Reading, Writing, Math, Music, and the challenge that technology presents. Outside of her tutoring adventures, she loves spending time with her husband, her three children, and her very large extended family. Together with them, she enjoys good food, good books, singing & playing music, watching favourite sports teams play, her pets and grand-pets, and an animated discussion on just about any topic.
